Travel Nutrition
Finding healthy nutrition on the road can be a challenge and yet, it’s vital for maintaining stamina, energy and vibrancy. We all want to go to our meetings and venues feeling our best.
Food choices on the road can be overwhelming. Airport food leaves little to be desired. An exception is LAX in the AA Terminal. They just opened the most awesome food court ever, serving the best of LA. You can get fresh squeezed veggie juice, Real Food Daily vegetarian meals and a number of other great choices to serve your dietary needs and varied palate. European airports and gas stations often have the best food options. This is not the case in many airports, or American gas stations, so you need to be prepared to either bring portable nutrients with you or make the best choices with what’s available.
There is no one diet that serves everyone’s needs and at different times in your life you will have different requirements. Some people do well with a Paleo or high protein (plus veggies) diet. Some do best with a vegetarian or vegan diet. Others may need to be gluten free or simply wheat free and dairy free. To determine what’s best for you, consult with a professional who has a repertoire of many styles of diet that can be geared to your individual needs. Be careful about “owning” the name of a diet. This is not your identity! Some diets are geared towards marketing and selling you an expensive product that may not be the best for you, even if endorsed by a well-known personality.
