Dos and Don’ts When it Comes to Supplements & Reading Labels


Look for the supplement facts on the back of the bottle. The front label is usually based on marketing and is misleading.

When it comes to Fish Oil look for the EPA and DHA per capsule.

Only buy the highest quality when it comes to supplements.

You best bet is to eat a healthy diet filled with the highest quality of nutrient and then use supplements to make up for what might be missing.

Choose a good prenatal from the health store.



Do not buy vitamins that are coated with artificial colors.

Do not buy vitamins that contain coal tar or petroleum products.

Do not buy vitamins that say daily % rather than the actual mgs, mcgs or IU’s.

Do not buy cheap vitamin E.

Do not buy cheap fish oil or flax seed oil.

Do not assume that you can get all of your needs met by a multi vitamin.

Do not buy supplements that contain hydrogenated soybean or palm oils.

Do not buy supplements that contain cornstarch and sugar.

Do not buy supplements from people who are only selling one type of product, as you might be buying a sales pitch over a product that truly meets your needs.
