Fish – Salmon and sardines are especially ideal choices, as they are especially highest in heart-friendly Omega 3 fatty acids. But this particular tip has been relevant for generations, says holistic nutritionist Sally Kravich. “Many people who are 50 or older remember getting cod liver oil, and there was a reason for that,” says Kravich. “It’s made from the liver of a cod fish, which is high in Omega 3s.”

Dark Brown Rice – Because they’re high in heart-friendly folic acids, include a combination of red, black and brown rice to your diet, says Kravich. “You can buy dark rice in most health food stores, and the darker-colored rices are higher in folic acid, part of the B complex vitamins which support the nervous system and are an important component for healthy heart function.”
