Foods to Avoid Before Flying
Even though airplanes are pressurized, you can still experience pressure and constriction in your body. Ever notice how ballpoint pens can leak after flying or how sealed make-up oozes out of sealed tubes? This pressure can affect your colon and your circulation.
Foods to avoid when flying:
- Salty foods, like flavored potato chips and pretzels
- Sugary Foods, like candy, cookies, and cake
- Pizza
- Meat
- Alcohol
Alcohol, salty foods, and sugar can affect your circulation and cause swelling. Even though an alcoholic beverage can calm your nerves for flying, avoid it if you have problems with swelling in your legs. The bowel can get constricted when flying. Avoid heavy foods such as meat and pizza which can create bloating and constipation. Instead, bring portable foods with you for your journey, such as fruit, veggies, raw nuts. Remember to keep your food light when flying.
